NEW vs. OLD style PMDs/FSDs and Connectors.

In Mid 2009 Stanadyne the OEM manufacturer of the pump mounted drivers (PMD/FSD) for GM changed to a new version of the PMD/FSD #39405 in a distinctive Gray color, this new part has gold-plated terminals and a Different shaped socket and connector. The New PMDs/FSDs are called "Bullet Proof" by Stanadyene but obviously that is just a marketing gimmick, and should not be taken literally. Like all sensitive electronics the newer PMDs still are better off to be mounted off and away from the hot engine on our PDC/PMD Remote Package. We think this change along with the marking gimmick name of "Bullet - Proof" are mainly because of an aftermarket PMD coming to the market and less to do with Stanadyne had stated as it being due to dissimilar metal connectors, (as the newer gold plated terminals should have been compatible without problem).

Always the innovator Jim was right on top of the new change and we got right to testing the new PMDs and of course were the first and only to come to market with a PMD Adapter Harness to adapt older PMD harnesses to the new PMD, the adapters could be especially useful for those using the A1 Customs BOOST/FUEL CONTROL or PDC/PMD Remote Package with older style PMDs who later want to update to the newer style PMD. Changing to the newer style PMDs certainly will not be necessary for most prior customers of the A1customs PDC/PMD Remote Package as we still have never had a verifiable failure of a PMD on the PDC in about a dozen years of sales!
